Snowed In!!! And Pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Family and Friends,

I have had an amazing week! Here's the Stories!
On Monday we went to Philly! It was so cool! We got to see the temple,
the Art Museum (Where the Rocky statue is), Love Park, Reading
Terminal Market, City Hall, Independence Hall, and Benjamin Franklin's
home. It was so fun! The craziest part was that we left at 10:30 a.m.
and got home at 5:30 p.m. It was a busy day!
Tuesday, we got back to work! We volunteered at the Alzheimer's
Association again. (we do it every Tuesday). We also saw a recent
Convert named and invited her to go to the temple! She is planning on
going to do the baptism for her daughter who passed away. We are so
excited! And she will probably be going soon! We also saw George on
Tuesday and had a great lesson with him. The Bishop's wife came with
us. She is so great and her testimony was incredible!
Wednesday was a crazy day! We got a call from the vehicle coordinator
who told us that the registration on our car was expired. So we packed
up and had to drive to Broomall for the day! It was great because we
got to spend a few hours with the Senior Couples that serve in the
office. They are the best!!!! We also got to go through the Sisters
bin, which is a place where we put clothes that we dont want anymore,
and we get to take things that we do like. I got two new skirts and I
love it! We made it home in time for our dinner appointment too!
Thursday we had district meeting. This week we talked about how to
Recognize the Spirit. I loved it! Chapter 4 of Preach my Gospel is all
about it! After that we went to visit a Less-Active woman in our ward.
This is the Second time we met with her. She is so sweet! While we
were talking to her she said that she had called her Sister-in-law,
Doris, and told her that we had come to see her. She said that Doris
wasn't a member and she had used to meet with the missionaries , but
they hadn't come by in a long time. We were excited to find out where
she lived so we could find out the missionaries who served there so we
could send them over. Then the sister told us that she lives right
here in Medford! In fact she lives less than half a mile from the
church! We were SO excited to go see this lady!
Friday, We went as fast as we could to Doris's house. Doris is an 86
year old lady who is actually a Cherokee Indian! She was so sweet! She
told us how much she had missed the missionaries and the Spirit that
they brought to her home. She told us that she wanted to start seeing
us again and that she wanted to start reading the Book of Mormon
again. We were so happy!!! It was like Christmas!
Saturday we did our weekly Planning.... That always takes a while, but
when we have good plans, we can be effective missionaries!
Sunday was awesome! Sister Veater and I both spoke in sacrament
meeting. We were able to share missionary experiences and talk about
the joy that comes from serving others. I realized just how much
happiness comes from the things that we do! Sometimes I wonder if what
I am doing is making a difference, but then I realized how much I have
changed and how much the people we work with change, just because we
were there to invite them to turn to our Savior. It's like in Matthew
16:25 (i think that's the verse), But the Lord promises that if we
lose our lives in His service, we will find the greatest life that
there is! That is Eternal Life! And one that is full of eternal joy
and satisfaction. True happiness is only found when we aren't thinking
about ourself.
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!
Hope you have another great week!!!

Love,
Sister McGuire

A Week of Adventures!!!!

Dear Family,

This has been a busy week, again! And I have so many stories this week! So get comfy, this might take a while! It's story time with Sister McGuire!
The first story starts on Tuesday. It snowed on Tuesday. Since it was snowing our district leader texted us and said that if we aren't comfortable with driving in the snow, then we could stay in that day. Well, I thought, "I'm from Utah! Of Course I can drive in the snow!" So, we went on our way. Well.... at about lunch time, we were coming back home and I turned into our apartment complex, when we hit a patch of ice and went skidding right into the curb. Yep. Luckily, the damage looked minimal, so we went on our merry way. (After informing the Vehicle Coordinator of our mishap, of Course).
On Wednesday, we had an awesome miracle! We were out trying a family in our ward. They have been less-active for a while and we went out to find them this week. We looked up the address for the son, and then stopped by that apartment. The woman there said that she had moved in a few months ago and didnt know the family. We left, but on our way out, Sister Veater had the impression to check the address again. We found that the address had been typed in wrong on the son and that they actually lived somewhere else. The other place that they lived was a bit farther away than we had planned and we needed to head to a dinner appointment soon. We decided to try them another day. As we started to drive away, we had a distinct and strong impression that we needed to go NOW. So, we turned the car around and headed off to find them. When we got there, the Mom, one of the daughters and the grandson were there. They welcomed us right in and made us Hot Chocolate. Then, the mom sat down and looked us straight in the eye and said, "It's been a long time since we've been to church. We need to get back to church. That's exactly what my family needs." We almost fell off the couch, we were so surprised! She gave us their phone number and asked us to come back soon. It was a miracle!
On Thursday we woke up and headed out to District Meeting. On our way there we realized that our car accident from Tuesday was NOT okay and we had to go to the nearest Car Shop there was. They informed us that it would be at least 4 hours before they would even be able to look at our car. But, we have no other way to get around. Luckily the other Sisters near our area were able to pick us up for the meeting. And Guess who had decided to come and visit that day????? President Sikahema and his wife came! It was an incredible meeting! After it all ended we went back to PepBoys to wait for our car. So..... we did what every good missionary does! We spent the next 6 hours talking to every single person that came into the waiting room! Haha! It was fun! Hopefully we will be getting some new investigators from it! :)
But, after a long few hours of waiting, a bunch of phone calls to the mission office, and one new tire rim later, we were back on the road!
So yeah, that was just a few of our adventures this week! I hope you all have a good week! I LOVE YOU!!!!!

Love,
Sister McGuire

A New Year! A New You!

Dear Family,

Mom, I liked your slogan, so I stole it! hehe! It is a New year and a lot is going to change this year. I am so excited for the many things that will happen!
On New Years, we had what we called a New York New Year Utah Style. At 10:00, Sister Veater and I cheered! hahaha! Then we went to bed at 10:30. :) That's how we rang in the New Year! It was a really great week though. Since it has been the Holidays, a lot of people have been home. So, we have been able to go out and find a lot of Less-Active members that the Bishop has asked us to find.
Also, we weren't able to go to the temple on Saturday because the woman we were going to go with had a death in her extended family, so she had to go to the funeral instead. But, that's okay, because we will get to go soon! (We hope!)
The coolest thing about this week is that we have decided to start contacting a Recent Convert in our ward more often. A problem that she had before she was baptized came back, and she has been struggling with it. We visited her on New Years Eve and she told us that a goal she had set for herself was to go to the temple and be baptized for her deceased daughter! We were so excited!!!!!! The Lord help us when we choose to follow His plan and I know that He will help her through her trials, because she has chosen to follow Him.
Another exciting story is that we were able to talk to the people at the library here in Medford and we will be doing a Family History Night here in February! We are so excited!!!!
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!! Happy New Year!!!!

Love,
Sister McGuire

This is a super cool Nativity we saw this week. Notice, There's still no snow! I Love it! But, It is supposed to snow tomorrow! Yikes! We'll see what happens!
